The 2003 Mizzies: Do Any Other Awards Really Matter?

I don’t have a real entry. I just wanted to post, since none of us have in quite some time. So here’s a list of awards I’m giving for 2003. For no particular reason other than it's what popped into my head, I'm calling these awards The Mizzies, and instead of a trophy I’ll be handing out old Entertainment Weeklies from the sizable stack Ty has sitting on his coffee table. You can tell already, these are going to be the best awards EVER.

So here they are, the winners of The 2003 Mizzies:

Best new hobby: Knitting. For so long I felt unproductive when I wasted hours in front of the television. Well, no more! All I know how to make right now are scarves, but to all the haters out there who have been making fun of me for that I say: No scarves for you, bitches!

Best new place to live: Los Angeles. Last year at this time, I didn’t know I was going to end up out here. Chalk that up to my semi-gypsy ways, I guess. And while there are some bad things about it, and I miss my friends and family desperately, seeing the mountains and palm trees as I’m driving or walking or stepping outside my door sure makes me happy. Also it’s like 50 degrees warmer here than Chicago. Not to rub that in or anything, but--ha ha!

Best food: Crumpets. Dee-licious. Have replaced English muffins as my personal breakfast of champions. Those damn Brits sure know their way around a toaster.

Best album: “Ohio” by Over the Rhine. I'm not even going to make a joke about this one. It's that good.

Best celebrity spotted: Pink, at Mel’s Drive-in. If by “best” you mean most famous, that is. (Tyler can top that with Nicole Kidman, incidentally) If by “best” you mean most awesome, then I would have to say Tori Spelling, in line for communion at church . .

Best new source of awesome British slang: “Bend It Like Beckham”. Watch it with subtitles for maximum effect. Well, you’re a right stroppy cow, now, innit? Laters! (What’s that? You think I wish I was British? You’re absolutely right. Honorary Mizzie for Country I Wish I Was From Other Than Italy goes to Great Britain..)

Best TV show I will not admit I watched: For Love or Money 2. What? I just said I didn’t watch it. The commercials just looked . . . good. Yeah.

Best straight-up TV show: Alias Alias, you done me wrong sort of, a little bit, this season. But I so love your kick-ass ways. (And Michael Vartan)

Most horrible show that I still watch but don’t know why: Starting Over. Damn, I hate that show. I’m filled with self-loathing every time I watch it. Only two more hours till it’s on!

Best thing on the internet: “Teen Girl Squad” on homestarrunner.com. “Grood! I mean, great. And good. Good and great.”

Best people in the world: You. We’re coming up on the One Year Anniversary of having an online diary. Thanks to our friends who read us. You are cool.

ps: Sign our guestbook. This is like honking if you love Jesus. How else will Jesus know you love him if you don’t honk? And how will we know you love us if you don’t say something on our guestbook? You can even use it as a way to talk smack to each other. You don’t have to say a word about any of us. Just go over to the link on the left and write something. Even your grocery list. We don’t care.
